Track Privacy narrative market cap, volume, social sentiment, and token performance.
Privacy coins provide confidential transactions where sender, receiver, and amounts are obscured on-chain. Leaders include Monero (XMR, ring signatures), Zcash (ZEC, zk-SNARKs), Dash (DASH, PrivateSend), and newer privacy-focused tokens. Privacy protocols (not just coins) include Railgun, Tornado Cash (sanctioned and blocked by many interfaces), Aztec, and various mixers. The privacy narrative faces regulatory headwinds — multiple CEXes have delisted Monero for KYC compliance, and the Tornado Cash sanctions set a precedent against privacy-preserving protocols. However, fundamental demand for on-chain privacy remains — legitimate users value privacy for normal commerce and investment, not just illicit activity. Sharpe's Privacy narrative tracks CoinGecko's privacy-coins category with market-cap-weighted performance. The category is smaller and lower-volume than mainstream narratives but maintains dedicated holder base.
